January 26, 2022

How to write content for a website can be a struggle. You might have a new website design or you want to optimize your current website and you don’t know how to turn your ideas into an effective web copy. Well, we are here to help you with these 3 tips on how to write content for your website!

What is the purpose of your website content?

If you don’t know why you write your website content, it just won’t be good. That’s why you’ll have to ask yourself what the purpose is of your website content. Is it to sell a product? To attract new clients? Is it to generate more traffic to your website? Once you know why you are writing your content you’ll be better positioned to write something that will help you achieve your goal.

Who is your audience?

After you determined your purpose you’ll need to know whom you are writing for. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Do they know your jargon or do you need to explain yourself?
  • What do they want to know?
  • What is their interest? You can keep your audience engaged with your website by posting more about their interests.

Optimize the page for SEO

Depending on the purpose of your website content, you might want users to find it through a google search. So when you are writing your content you might want to keep SEO in the back of your mind. But how do you optimize your page for SEO? There are a few tips and tricks. On WordPress, there is an extension called Yoast that can help you with your on-page SEO.  Whether you use Yoast or not, you’ll need to use the primary keyword naturally through your text. A keyword intensity of 1-2% is ideal. In addition to using your keyword you can also use the following SEO content elements:

  • Page title
  • Use at least one subheading
  • Create a title tag
  • Write a meta description
  • Use image alt tags
